Post Tan Care

It is important that you maintain your skin well in order to prolong your tan. Afternoon or evening sprays are ideal where you can relax at home afterwards  in loose clothing (eg sarong) and allow your tan to develop and settle with as little disturbance as possible.

Allow at least 8 hours before your first shower.   To leave on overnight is ideal and have your first post tan shower in the morning.     This will allow a good amount of time for the tan to develop.  Remember that some of the bronzer may rub off onto bed clothes and linen, so dark colours are best.

Clothing

Ensure the tan is dry prior to getting dressed.  Loose fitting clothing should also be worn for the next 6 to 8 hours.  Tight clothing that rubs on the skin will cause uneven tanning.

Showering

Wait a minimum of 6 to 8 hours before showering.   Or better yet, wait until the next day, enabling maximum development time.  Note : The tan will still continue to develop slightly over the next 24 hours.

Wash with an SLS free body wash.  Don’t scrub the body harshly.  Wash just using your hand with gel.  After washing, pat body dry with a towel – don’t rub.

Activities

You should not swim, perspire or exercise until after your first post-tan shower (see above).

Moisturise

Keep the skin well moisturised.  We are trying to stop the skin from naturally sloughing off, thereby prolonging the tan.

Twice daily, you should use an effective body moisturiser (SLS Free).

To extend the life of the tan – we recommend our bronzing moisturiser every second day.  This contains a small amount of the active tanning ingredient DHA, and will boost the tan each time it is applied.

The tan on the face and hands will fade quicker to that of the rest of your body due to regular cleansing.  However we recommend our tanning mist to top up the tan in these areas.

Exfoliation (Removing the Last of the Tan)

Exfoliate only towards the end of the life of the tan, once the tan has completely faded, or prior to being re-tanned.   To assist in the removal of the old tan, we recommend using a liquid loofah scrub, massaged onto dry skin first before hopping into a warm bath, using exfoliating gloves to finish off the exfoliating process.      This should remove the last of the tan.

Tip : For regular tanners who have a tan build-up,

use a baking soda and water (or lemon juice) paste and

apply this to the skin.  Take a long soaking bath

(20 to 30 mins – the longer the better), exfoliating lightly. 

Dry briskly with a towel, rubbing any stubborn areas as required.
